As a young artist in the Placidó Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program with the Washington National Opera, tenor Greg Warren performed many leading roles including Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore andGherardo in Gianni Schicchi. In spring 2007 he will perform Tonio in La Fille du Regiment. Next season he will debut at the LA Opera as Rodrigo in Verdi’s Otello andthe Young Sailor in Tristan und Isolde, and returns to the Washington Opera in the role of Mike in A View from the Bridge. Other upcoming engagements include the First Jew in the National Symphony Orchestra’s Salome with soprano Deborah Voigt, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore for the San Antonio Opera, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Alfredo in La traviata at the New Jersey Opera Theater, and performance of The Tempest and Guillaume Tell for the VARA in Amsterdam.
In the 2006 season Mr. Warren was an apprentice artist with the Santa Fe Opera. He has also been an apprentice artist with the opera companies of Cedar Rapids and El Paso. He has performed with Shreveport Opera, Longview Opera, Palm Beach Opera and El Paso Opera.
Mr. Warren was a finalist in several competitions including the Houston Grand Opera, the Marguerite McCammon Competition, Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition and the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Mr. Warren holds degrees from Texas Tech University and the Centenary College of Louisiana. While in the Domingo-Cafritz program he covered mainstage performances asFerrando in Così fan tutte and Stingo in the national debut of Nicholar Maw’s Sophie’s Choice.
