“ The young, vivaciously engaging mezzo Julie Nesrallah led the accomplished cast. With voluptuous, dark, good looks, a relaxed winsome stage personality and a beautifully smooth, expressive voice, she took her rightful place at the center of the playful action without becoming self-indulgent or overwhelming”

Mezzo soprano Julie Nesrallah has dazzled audiences across North America and abroad, with her rich tone, engaging personality, and expressive interpretations of the operatic and concert repertoire.
Of her February 2008 opening night as Carmen in Binghamton NY, the Press & Sun-Bulletin reported: As the title character, Julie Nesrallah is a Carmen to be reckoned with, chesting selected low notes with all of the sass and brass you would expect from a femme fatale. She sounds terrific, and if that weren't enough her acting is formidable as well; she issues her siren song "L'amour" to Escamillo without even taking the cigarette from her mouth. She methodically hikes her skirt to take a little sponge bath–in the middle of the plaza. Nesrallah's Carmen is a treat to listen to and a delight to watch.
Miss Nesrallah has been heard as Carmen, Isabella is L’Italiana in Algeri, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Angelina in La Cenerentola, Der Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Meg Page in Falstaff, Anita in West Side Story, Jocasta in Oedipus Rex, Miss Todd in the Old Maid and the Thief, Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda, and Young Mozart in the Jewel Box, on the stages of the Vancouver Opera, the Connecticut Grand Opera, Opera Pacific Victoria, the Syracuse Opera, Saskatoon Opera, Opera Lyra Ottawa, the American Opera Theater, Greenmountain Opera, Opera Hong Kong, and in operatic concert performances with the Kingston Symphony, Opera in Concert, The Cedar Rapids Symphony, and Soundstreams in her native Canada.
Concert engagements of Miss Nesrallah have included performances with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Ottawa Symphony, the Laval Symphony, the Victoria Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, and L’Orchestre Métropolitain de Montreal. She has performed with such renowned ensembles as the St. Lawrence Quartet, the Orford Wind Quintet, Quatuor Arthur-Leblanc, the Borealis String Quartet, La Pietà, the Montreal Guitar Trio and the Molinari String Quartet, with whom Miss Nesrallah recorded a CD as the multi-role soloist for R. Murray Schafer’s tour de force, Beauty and the Beast, which won the 2002-2003 Opus Prize for Record of the Year in the Modern and Contemporary Category.
