Ukrainian soprano Olga Mykytenko made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi in 2007 and was also heard in the season as Gilda in Rigoletto at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, as Micaela in Carmen at the Savonlinna Festival, and as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin in Lyon. Upcoming engagements for the soprano include Liu in Turandot and Mimi in La bohème in Essen, the title role in La traviata in Hamburg, Nedda in I pagliacci in BerlinAmalia in I Masnadieri in Frankfurt, and both Nedda in I pagliacci and Liu in Turandot at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago in Chile.
Having started her career as a member of the National Opera of the Ukraine in Kiev, where she made her debut in 1995. Miss Mykytenko’s international career began in 2001. From that time she has performed in many of the Europe’s prestigeous opera houses, including Vienna’s Theatre an der Wien in the title role of Iolanta by Tchaikovsky, Violetta in La traviata in at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, and the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos in Lisbon, the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor at the Marinskiy Theatre in St. Petersburg, Musetta in the Franco Zeffirelli production of La bohème in Rome, and Mimi in La bohème at the Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg. Miss Mykytenko has also been heard as Gilda at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège and at the Hamburg Staatsoper, Nedda in I pagliacci and Liu in Turandot at the Savonlinna Festival, Liu and Violetta with the Welsh National Opera, Liu and Mimi at the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Mimi in Oslo, and Violetta in Hong Kong Opera.
She has won several international prizes, including the Grand Prix Maria Callas International in Athens, 2nd Prize at the Francisco Viñas Competition in Barcelona, and 1st Prize at the Queen Sonja International Song Competition in Oslo.
