Soprano Jennifer Grimaldi has emerged as a promising, young talent in opera, concert and recital repertoire.
Miss Grimaldi sang her first Vier letzte Lieder of Richard Strauss in New York City with the New York Repertory Orchestra under the direction of David Leibowitz. In the 2010-2011 season she was also heard in the Mineria Festival as soloist in Mahler's Ressurection Symphony, and joined the Lexiington and Nashua Symphonies for Mahler's Symphony No. 8, She returns to the Mineria Festival in 2011-2012 for Mahler's Symphony No. 8, followed by Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder with the New York Repertory Orchestra, and Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony with the Flint Symphony Orchestra.
In the 2008-2009 season she made her European debut in Mendelssohn's Elijah with the Charlemagne Orchestra in Brussels, under the direction of Bartholomeus-Henri Van de Velde, was heard in an all Richard Strauss recital at the Greenwich Music House, Player's Club and the Bechstein Gallery in New York City, and joined the Third Street Music School Settlement for their 30th Annual Bach Festival Concert in New York City, singing excerpts from Handel's Samson and Rodelinda, and the Pergolesi Stabat Mater.
In recent seasons Miss Grimaldi was heard not only as the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro but also as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni both with Amsterdam Concert Opera in NYC and Raylynmor Opera in New Hampshire. She created the role of Dolly in the New York City Premiere of Orpheus Descending by Bruce Saylor, and sang Alma Hix in The Music Man for the Utah Festival opera. Miss Grimaldi has performed with opera companies and festivals including Sarasota Opera, Brevard Music Festival, Intermezzo Opera Festival, Utah Festival Opera, and Raylynmor Opera, where she has performed as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, Suzel in L'amico Fritz, Mimi and Musetta in La bohème and the title role in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah among others.
Recent orchestral engagements for Miss Grimaldi include Mahler's Symphony No.4 with the Queens Symphonic Orchestra, Bach’s Magnificat, Handel's Messiah and Vivaldi’s Gloria with the New Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Barber’s Knoxville Summer of 1915 and Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate with the Third Street Music School Settlement Orchestra.
Jennifer Grimaldi has been the recipient of awards and competitions such as the Friday-Woodmere Young Artist Competition, Claire Bennet Moringiello Award, Violet Zatkin Award for Opera, and the Paul Robeson Vocal Competition. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree Vocal Performance from The Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in New York, where she studied both Violin and Voice.
